Palestinian Medical Relief Society ambulance teams and volunteers provided services to 150 injured protesters during the events on Land Day in Qalandia and Nablus.
The director of the PMRS Emergency Program, Dr. Mohammed Iskafi stated that PMRS opened a field hospital at Qalandia and that PMRS vehicles responded to 75 injuries during the confrontations. He also added that PMRS first aid teams treated around 50 injured in the field hospital near Qalandia checkpoint.
Dr. Iskafi also said that 8 PMRS first aid responders from Jerusalem, Ramallah and Nablus were injured while in action of treating injured protesters during clashes at Qalandia for Land Day. In addition to this, 3 PMRS vehicles were targeted as a result of Israeli violence and suppression.
He also affirmed that all Israeli measures and attempts to prevent PMRS from providing services to Palestinians will not succeed and that PMRS will continue to support and strengthen the steadfastness of our as shown through PMRS’ thirty-three years or work.
Director General of PMRS, Mr. Heidar Abu Ghosh condemned Israeli aggression on targeting PMRS first aid responders and vehicles which ultimately hindered their aid to those injured.
Mr. Abu Ghosh stated that PMRS’ mission and long history of humanitarian and national work and services will continue despite Israeli aggression. He also clarified that this is not the first time Israeli occupation forces attacked PMRS personnel, as it was evident during the Second Intifada.
Dr. Yaghi, the Director of PMRS program in Gaza stated that PMRS teams participated in Land Day events in Gaza. He also affirmed that PMRS promotes the steadfastness of the Palestinian people through the several programs and services PMRS provides.
