Ramallah: Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative met with a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Health in addition with Heidar Abu Ghosh, the Director General of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society.
During the meeting, the participants exchanged their views on the situation in the Palestine, especially in the city of Jerusalem, the expulsion of Jerusalemites, demolition and seizing of homes and property, and settlement activity.
Dr. Barghouthi discussed the problems arising from the apartheid system created by Israel in the Palestinian territories and the negative effect that it has on the two-state solution.
He also called to lift the siege on Gaza in which a million and a half million citizen suffer from inhumane conditions.
Dr. Barghouthi then discussed the obstacles that are imposed by Israel that destroy the possibility of peace such as settlement expansion, Separation Wall, and the Israeli actions of avoiding any obligations of a just peace based on ending occupation and settlement expansion and to establish a fully sovereign Palestinian state.
Dr. Barghouthi said that, “Our priority is to promote democracy and development and the need to restore national unity and ending division." He also displayed maps and documents about the Israeli policy of ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem and Judaizing the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and the procedures that prevent the creation of a Palestinian state and replace it with the idea of a state with temporary borders.
The health situation and the obstacles faced due to the Israeli occupation in Palestine was also explained by Dr. Barghouthi. As the meeting concluded, tt was agreed that there will be a mutual cooperation in the near future.
