Community Health worker forced to take off her clothes at Barthaa checkpoint

14-05-2009: Thursday the 14th of May, the PMRS mobile clinic team was harassed by Israeli soldiers on their way to Barthaa village.

The PMRS mobile team was halted at an Israeli checkpoint as they were heading towards Barthaa village. After the vehicle and the ID's of the health workers were checked in detail, an Israeli soldier asked the PMRS Community Health Worker to make poses. After she refused, she was requested to follow the soldier to the body searching room inside the checkpoint. She was stripped from all her clothes and her body was searched meticulously. In the meantime, the mobile clinic team waited at the checkpoint for one hour and a half. The team was composed of a general physician, a women's doctor, two health workers, a lab-technician and a driver. The team confirmed that each time they travel to Barthaa, they are held for long periods of time at this checkpoint.

The PMRS mobile clinic provides its services once a week to Barthaa village, Omerihaan and Dhar Almaleh, where they offer general health services, women's health services, pharmacy- and lab-services and health education.
