In the presence of Dr. Salaam Fayyad and Mustafa Barghouthi, Ambassadors and Consuls of Arab and foreign countries: Palestinian Medical Relief Society graduated two classes of Community Health Workers and celebrated its 30th Anniversary.

Ramallah: The Community Health College of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) celebrated the graduation of the 18th and 19th classes of female health workers. A large audience from around the West Bank attended the ceremony.

The ceremony took place in the Ramallah Cultural Palace. Prime Minister Dr. Salaam Fayyad, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, Ambassadors and Consuls of numerous Arab and foreign countries, General Manager of PMRS Heidar Abu Ghosh, Dean of the Faculty of Community Health Dr. Abdullah Abu Sharara, managers, workers and volunteers of the PMRS, representatives of the Ministries of Education and Higher Education and Health attended the ceremony.

Dr. Fayyad stated in a speech that he was honored to participate and he expressed his congratulations to the PMRS for it's 30th Anniversary.
Dr. Fayad also said that the PMRS was a main provider of great care and health education for the last thirty years.
Fayyad stressed that this event is significant because medical aid needs to be integrated between official and public organizations in order to provide services to the entire Palestinian population.

He went on to say that the interest of the PMRS towards women and the graduation of this class will strengthen the role of Palestinian women. He also expressed his congratulations to the graduates and their relatives.

Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi said that the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of the PMRS expressed hope and cooperation as we celebrate the graduation of two classes of the Women‘s College Health Community. However, this joy remains incomplete because we have not been able to involve our brothers and sisters from the Gaza Strip due to Israeli siege.

Dr. Barghouthi announced that we could not celebrate this achievement today without the perseverance and dedication of the graduates, college administration, and faculty.

He went on to say that the PMRS has gone through a difficult process as PMRS began its career thirty years ago with only a few volunteers and resources. However, they continued to provide better services to the Palestinian people and to improve the health system.
Dr. Barghouthi cited that the PMRS provided many services that rescued the lives of many patients.  And that despite the practices of occupation, repression and attacks on crews, relief organizations, and ambulance teams—PMRS will never forget its role of transporting medicine and food to homes during the invasions and curfews. Neither will it forget its role in the rescue of injured and wounded people during the confrontations during the Intifada.
Mr. Nils Eliasson Consul of Sweden expressed his happiness for his participation in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the PMRS.

Mr. Eliasson said that PMRS was and will remain an important partner. He also said that Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, is highly appreciated by the Government of Sweden for his efforts for his people and his cause.

At the end of the celebration, MP Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, Heidar Abu Ghosh, Maha Abu Shusha, Jumana Odeh, Dr. Allam Jarrar, Dr. Abdullah Abu Sharara, Dr. Mohamed Aboushi, Dr. Mahmoud Baraghet, Hazem Kharouf, and Najat Abu Kwaik distributed the certificates to the graduates.
